The Mirror. 2012
Video 1:06 sec
A slightly edited episode from Károly Makk’s film "Another Way" (1982) shows the main heroine Éva (Jadwiga Jankowska) giving a passionate speech at the editorial office about the importance of truth in Hungary after 1956. She is observed by her colleague Livia (Grażyna Szapołowska). The mirror reflection draws a connection between unspoken realities of political and personal life.

Another Way. 2012
Video 0:32 sec.
In 1982, the Polish film and theater actress Jadwiga Jankowska was named Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in Hungarian director Károly Makk‘s film “Another Way.” Jankowska played an uncompromising journalist Éva in love with her colleague Livia (Grażyna Szapołowska). The film showed the oppression of political and private life in Hungary after 1956.
8 seconds of TV reportage from the award ceremony in Cannes was chosen to show it another way: twisted in the middle the same event is seen from another side, combining “positive” and “negative” reflections. The mirror image of Jankowska and French actress Brigitte Fossey is the same, yet different. The video turned documentation to fiction and became an imaginary sequel of the film "Another Way".
